It's Monday!  What are you reading?  From picture books to YA is a weekly feature hosted by Jen of Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee of Unleashing Readers.

It's been a while since I've participated, mainly because I haven't been reading (gasp!), or writing book reviews (though I have been writing reviews of my various subscription boxes).  But finally, FINALLY, I think I may have broken out of my reading / reviewing slump!

This week:
I'm listening to Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, and when I finish that, A Grimm Conclusion by Adam Gidwitz.  Eleanor & Park is just lovely, I'm so happy I was able to get it from my library.  I'm finally happy that I have to drive an extra hour and a half (each way) to my class this week!

I just finished Cinder by Marissa Meyer (such a quick read!), and hope to get Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles #2) from the library this week!

It's Monday!  What are you reading?  From picture books to YA is a weekly feature hosted by Jen of Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee of Unleashing Readers.

You've seen this picture before, I'm still working on this stack of books.  I admit, had I not started watching Supernatural on Netflix, I probably would be finished with all of these by now.  But, I did, and this is one of the few shows that I can't read and watch at the same time (The Following and The Walking Dead are some of the others).  I am really enjoying Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library, though.  It reminds me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, though hopefully none of the kids get turned into blueberries.

I am starting our annual English Proficiency Level testing this week (the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs..woohoo), so I'm hoping I'll have some time to read while proctoring.

I also have a question, what service (if any) do you use to post to Facebook and Twitter?  The one I'm using now seems to only post to Twitter (even though my FB is hooked up to it), and posts HOURS after this post goes live.

Ok, last week I made the switch---changed the blog background AND name!  I'm now "Maestra Amanda's World".  Now, I feel like I can talk about everything that I love, not just books.  Even though my focus will still be book reviews, I've got other things to talk about!  I hope you stay with me!

You saw this pic last week, I know.  But I'm still working on it!  I'm reading Flora and Ulysses at school and Doll Bones at home.  I haven't gotten into any others yet.

Shocker, I haven't been keeping you guys updated.  I'm thinking of changing the focus of my blog, to not just book reviews, but a slice of my life---so dog stuff reviews, home and beauty reviews, TV reviews, talking about apps and technology.  My life.  But, I haven't decided yet.  I want to write, I want to blog, but I don't always want to write book reviews.  I have a hard time coming up with new things to say, and I hate when all my reviews are like "oh I loved it" blah blah blah.

Anyway, here is a picture of my TBR pile.  I can thank the Nerdy Book Club "Nerdies" for this.  I'm reading them in hopes of finding a few to add to my Virginia Reader's Choice nomination list.  I'm pretty sure I will.

I am a horrible blogger.  No, don't tell me otherwise.  I really am.  I say that I'm going to post more, and that lasts about a week.  I hate excuses.  I really do.  If I wanted to post more, I would have found the time.  I can't blame work, dogs, courses, life.  I just haven't felt like doing anything extra.  But I'm back, and I will try.  And that's all I can do.

This week, I'm reading: Samantha Sutton and the Winter of the Warrior Queen. working on The Heroes Guide to Storming the Castle (book 2), and probably throw in some Walking Dead graphic novels.

I'm so disappointed in myself.  I really had hopes of posting more.  I have a calendar all written out of what I'd like to post when.  But, that doesn't help much when you don't actually sit down to write the posts!  I'm trying, though!

Saturday, I had my Virginia Reader's Choice committee meeting, and we selected our state lists for 2014-15 (to be announced in March).  I know it's really superficial and stupid, but I LOVE when a book I suggested back in April gets the final nomination in October.  Makes me feel really good, and like I actually know what I'm doing when it comes to suggesting books.  Now, I can't tell you what books I suggested or what books we finally chose, but I can suggest you take a look at the books I've read tab and pay close attention to the ones with * beside them.  I'll announce the list in March.
