Dog Days of Summer blog hop: Day 3

For more information about The Dog Days of Summer blog fest, to participate, to see the questions for the next few days or to see the other blogs participating, hop on over here, or click the image above.

Day 3's question:  If you could have the ultimate vacation ever, where and what would it be?

I want to go to so many places, its hard to pick just one.  In the winter, I want to go someplace warm, but then I remember I burn like nobody's business.  When I see a cool place in a movie, I want to go there (hello, Slumdog Millionaire, I'm looking at you.  I had no desire to visit India until you came out and won my heart as well as an Oscar.)

But the ultimate vacation for me would be to just travel around Europe and to see all the sights I've read about in books:  Stonehenge, Platform 9 3/4, Tintagel, Sherwood Forest, Versailles, tilt at some windmills in Espana, The Colosseum, Sparta (though I can't say that word normally anymore, thanks 300, so we may have to cut that one out).  I'd start in Ireland and just go wherever my heart desired, ending up in St. Petersburg.  It would take all summer, and since its a dream vacation, I obviously have unlimited funds to pay for this, so I'm ok.  And I hate to say it, but if it didn't involve a flowrider, I wouldn't cry.  Its fun and all, but I'm not going to plan my dream vacation around it.  If there happens to be one in the area, we'll visit, but that's all.

Dog Days of Summer Blog Hop: Day 2

For more information about The Dog Days of Summer blog fest, to participate, to see the questions for the next few days or to see the other blogs participating, hop on over here, or click the image above.

Day 2's question is:  What activities do you plan before summer is over?

Well, I had to look at my calendar before I answered this question.  Not because I'm just a social butterfly with so much on her calendar, but because teacher work days and meetings (some even before work days start) are starting the 17th. So, I guess that would mark the end of my summer?    Technically, school doesn't start until September 4th, but we have a lot to do to get ready for school.

This weekend, I plan on visiting my inlaws (must remember to bring my elastic waist pants as my MIL is a great cook).  The 19th, my husband would like to go to a MLB game.  Other than that, I have nothing planned!  Try and read some more.  I wanted to clean my house a little bit better over summer....but that's probably not going to happen....oh yeah...I want to go see The Campaign (Will Ferrell's new movie)

What about you?

Dog Days of Summer Blog Hop: Day 1

For more information about The Dog Days of Summer blog fest, to participate, to see the questions for the next few days or to see the other blogs participating, hop on over here, or click the image above.

Today's question is:  Describe your favorite summer activity thus far.

If I had to pick just one thing, I'd say trail riding with my husband through Glacier National Park.  I wrote a blog post about it on our travel blog (click here  ... not here...).  I love horseback riding, and to be able to go on a trail ride in honestly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been was awesome.  A close second was on the same trip, we went to Cannon Beach, Oregon (where the movie, The Goonies was filmed).  I could sit on that beach for hours.  If only the western Oregon weather and my sinuses would cooperate.

What about you?

Crazy For Books Blog Hop

Book Blogger Hop

Crazy For Books is holding another book blogger hop (like you couldn't read that from the icon, but I still wanted to tell you).
Her rules are simple:
1.  Enter your book blog link in the Linky List below
In your link, please state the main genre that you review:  eclectic, contemp. fiction, ya, paranormal, mystery, non-fiction, etc.

Example:  Crazy-for-Books (contemp. adult fiction)

2. Post about the Hop on your blog.  Spread the word about the book party!  The more the merrier!  In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each week!).

And the question of the week is.............

"Who's your all-time favorite book villain?"

My favorite book villain is Bellatrix LeStrange (of Harry Potter fame).  Bellatrix is just an all around crazy chick, and you just don't know what she's doing to do next (which, to me, that unpredictability makes her scarier than Lord Voldemort....crap I said his name, check for Dark Marks overtop of Virginia.)

Blog Hop

I seem to see a "blog hop" every week, so this week I wanted to join in the fun!

This week's blog hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books
Book Blogger Hop

The rules are simple:

1.  Enter your book blog link in the Linky List  on crazy-for-books.com
2. Post about the Hop on your blog.  Spread the word about the book party!  The more the merrier!  In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each week!).

The Question of the Week is:

"Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?"

And my answer:  I've already changed it!  I had a really hard time thinking of a name when I first started my blog---it seemed like all the "cool" ideas I had were already taken!  Thankfully, That-Book-Lady was available.  And then I saw on Twitter that someone else was already "That Book Lady" (and I felt bad).  My pre-k students always called me "Maestra Amanda", and I liked it (its my twitter handle and my husband recently got it embroidered on my 31 purse lunchbag), so its followed me around.  Maestra Amanda's bookshelf is simple, yet its me.
