15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 6

Day 6:  Describe how you shop for books

If it's a book for my classroom, I go by recommendations from my NerdyBookClub friends on twitter.  And then I'll scoot over to amazon and price shop.

If it's a book for Virginia Reader's Choice, I'll first hit up the Green Valley Book Fair to see if they have it, otherwise, again price shop on amazon.

I'm more likely to buy my books off of amazon than at Barnes and Noble (no independent bookstores around here that I know of besides GVBF mentioned above) as it's just cheaper and I get overwhelmed and want to BUY ALL THE BOOKS!
yeah, I totally made that and now it's on pinterest.  I rule.
Unless it's a book that I CANNOT wait for (looking at you BITTERBLUE) and then I'll go straight to the bookstore as soon as it opens.

The 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge is hosted by April of Good Books and Good Wine.  And don't forget to head over to Andi's ABC's to find out Andi's book related confessions!

In My Mailox 15: I love the Green Valley Bookfair

In my mailbox is a weekly posting hosted by Kristi, The Story Siren, where you post whatever books you've gotten in the mail, downloaded, borrowed or bought that week.

What I think is the real "Happiest Place on Earth", otherwise known as the Green Valley Book Fair opened this past weekend, and boy did I get a bunch of great books!

Lulu and the Brontosaurus by Judith Viorst
Touch Blue by Cynthia Lord
Spaceheadz by Jon Scieszka
A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz
 Fire by Kristin Cashore
Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars by Tracy Mack
Knightly Academy by Violet Haberdasher
The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore but illustrated by Robert Sabuda (squee!)
A Box Set of The Mortal Instruments Trilogy (City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass) by Cassandra Clare
And, just so you can be jealous, yes that is the correct price tag on that box set.  I'm serious, the books might not always be brand new just published, but many are recent and who can beat prices like this?  Visit the Green Valley Book Fair if you ever have a chance!

What was in your mailbox?

In My Mailbox 9: Super late, but its a video blog!

In My Mailbox is a weekly posting hosted by Kristi @ The Story Siren

I feel bad that it took me until Monday evening to do my IMM, so I decided to do a video blog (vlog) to spice it up!

So, in case you missed the websites,
The Green Valley Book Fair
The Origami Yoda Blog

And thanks again to Penguin Teen (like them on Facebook for contests!)

In My Mailbox #8: What is this white stuff falling from the sky?

In My Mailbox (IMM) is a weekly posting hosted by Kristi, The Story Siren.  In it, you post books that you've gotten that week---either from the library, friends, the mail, or purchased.

This week,
I received these ARCS in the mail, (sorry about the pic, my cell phone camera isn't that great)
thanks to Diana Dang (of Stop, Drop and Read!)  She is giving away ARCS that she has, you just pay shipping, and shipping costs go to help victims in Japan.  Check out her blog to find out more on how you can help (and get some books!)

I borrowed from the library:
Saphique by Catherine Fisher

As for that freak white stuff falling from the sky, we had about 3 inches of snow fall last night.  As a teacher, I generally am excited to see snow, except on weekends.  However, now that I've worn sandals, I can't go back to wearing shoes and socks.  Weather...geesh!

I'm already working on a great IMM for next week---the Green Valley Book Fair edition.  Where all your book nerd dreams come true (for 60-90% off retail).
