It's Monday! What are you reading? From Picture Books to YA

Its Monday!  What are you reading?  From Picture Books to YA is a weekly feature hosted by Jen and Kellee of Teach Mentor Texts and inspired by Its Monday!  What are you reading by Sheila at Book Journeys.

This past week, I read IVY AND BEAN by Annie Barrows, GRACELING by Kristin Cashore and started FIRE (the second in the series).  My twitter friend, Andi, was talking on New Year's Eve about how she was starting GRACELING for the first time, and I starting thinking about how much I loved GRACELING and decided to reread it, too!  But then, of course, I have to read the series!  So everything that I thought I was going to read got pushed back.  Still no word from the library on Game of Thrones 3, but I'll continue to wait patiently (or not so patiently), but its ok as I still need to finish FIRE and start BITTERBLUE.

I also started another blog (!), just for my Project Life 365 daily photos.  You can find more info (like how to join) Project Life 365 here, but basically, they give you a topic to take a picture of each day for a year, you take it, and post it on instagram/twitter/facebook/blog, etc.  I chose to post to a blog because I have that record and I have my blog set to automatically update my facebook and twitter anyway!  Please take a look, photography is my other love, but I don't think of myself as a creative person, so I'm hoping this daily challenge will help me spread my wings a little and be more creative.

Last weeks posts:
December 31:  It's Monday! post
January 1:  Year in Review 2012; #TreatTuesday
January 2:  Review:  Chopsticks by Amy Krouse Rosenthal
January 3:  Thursday #Thirstday
January 4:  Review:  Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett

This coming week's posts:
January 7:  It's Monday! post
January 8:  Review:  Here Come the Girl Scouts! (and maybe a #treatTuesday....if I find a good treat!)
January 9:  Review:  Boy + Bot
January 10: Thursday #thirstday
January 11:  Review:  Ivy + Bean

And a head's up...the next week (January 15-18), I've decided is the week of GRACELING.  It's all GRACELING all the time!  With {Deep Thoughts} on GRACELING, FIRE, and BITTERBLUE (since I've already read and reviewed them all), and I'm breaking out an oldie but goodie---Friday Night Mental Movie.  Who would I cast in "my" GRACELING movie?  I'm excited...and you should be, too!

What are you reading?

  1. If you liked Graceling, you might like Tamora Pierce's Alanna: The First Adventure. The action and adventure of Graceling, but not quite as violent! I'll have to think about whom I would cast!

  2. I need to get on Graceling. I have been saying it for a while now. Maybe 2013 will finally be the year I get to it!

  3. I am not familiar with Graceling, will have to check it out. I LOVED Chopsticks and Extra Yarn!
