Tom Angleberger's newest book, ART2-D2's GUIDE TO FOLDING AND DOODLING, comes out today! I was so lucky to get an advanced copy (thank you, Abrams Kids/Amulet).
I have some boys in 4th grade who are obsessed with the Origami Yoda series.
These are just a sampling of my Yodas and Darth Papers. This Darth Paper is my favorite though, I like the detail!
Abrams was nice enough to send me multiple copies of the sampler, one of which I gave to my most obsessed student. I put my other copy on my check-out shelf, and we almost came to blows over who got to check it out first. (I kid, it wasn't that bad. It could have been though. Can you imagine?)
Anyway, back to the book! I really liked what I saw in the sampler. I'm not artistic, am not known to doodle. Heck, I have a hard time folding paper in a straight line! But, I really enjoyed learning how to draw a quick Yoda, do the Star Wars lettering and how to do a basic origami person. I can't wait to see what the full book has!
I thought it was really cute that all the kids from the series were the narrators and it was set up like a case file like in the books. I mean, of course it makes sense to do it that way, it would be silly to not follow the series, but it's still nice to see.
Stick figures to the dark side only lead! To doodle like a Jedi you must learn! With this companion to the blockbuster bestselling Origami Yoda series, beloved author Tom Angleberger—with the help of the kids from McQuarrie Middle School—presents young Padawans with dozens of activities from the Star Wars universe. Padawans can learn how to fold R2-D2 and C-3PO, draw Jabba, and even build a fully functioning ChapStick rocket! Other Force-mastering activities include: “Kellen’s Guide to Cool Letters,” “Mike’s Complete Rules and Tips for Pencil Pod-Racing,” “Rhondella’s Tips for Photographing Origami,” and much more!
With Tom Angleberger’s goofy sense of humor and accessible art style, Art2-D2’s Guide to Folding and Doodling is sure to satisfy and inspire the millions of Origami Yoda and Star Wars fans. May the doodles be with you!
Includes 16-page color insert with 10 pages of colored pull-out origami paper; instructions to make Yoda, Darth, C-3PO, Admiral Ackbar, and R2-D2; a section on photographing your origami creations, and two Star Wars backdrops to photograph them against.
