This book, by Michele Sobel Sprirn, has to be my favorite Thanksgiving book! It's an easy chapter book, which I like (short enough to read during my short groups, but long enough to make it feel like a big kid book). The vocabulary is pretty easy. And it's hilarious! My students laugh every year (especially at the part where he squirts milk out of his nose!)
Summary and image from Amazon:
Mark is so excited to be the turkey in his class Thanksgiving play -- until he discovers what the turkey's real role was in the first Thanksgiving dinner!
