In my mailbox is a weekly posting hosted by Kristi, The Story Siren, where you post whatever books you've gotten in the mail, downloaded, borrowed or bought that week.
You might be wondering, "Why is Amanda thanking Joan Kindig?" Or, "Who in the world is Joan Kindig?" And here's the scoop: Joan Kindig is a former professor of mine who also happens to be the chair of the Virginia Reader's Choice Committee, which I am proud to say I am a member of. She is often sent books by publishers and authors, and yesterday, at the meeting, she cleaned out her shelves and brought quite a few (ok, a TON....like BOXES worth) of books for members to take home with them. And so, because of her generosity, that is why this post is entitled "Thank you, Joan Kindig".
Here are the books that I grabbed:
My Shoes and I by Rene Colato Lainez
The Butt Book by Artie Bennett
Once Upon a Time / Habia Una Vez bye Ruben Martinez
Beautiful Yetta, The Yiddish Chicken by Daniel Pinkwater
Floating on Mama's Song by Laura Lacamara
My Penguin Osbert by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel
How Tia Lola Learned to Teach by Julia Alvarez
Horton Halfpott by Tom Angelberger
Stink-o-pedia by Megan McDonald
Her Evil Twin by Mimi McCoy

ReplyDeleteHere is my IMM.
The Butt Book is great! As soon as it came to our library, I couldn't (ok wouldn't) stop talking about it until all my coworkers read it. Happy reading!
